Telemarketing companies offer telemarketing services, whereby they do the entire range of telemarketing activities on behalf of a client. They call prospective customers of the client and carry out activities like lead generation, appointment setting, etc. Telemarketing is not just making phone calls. It involves many activities. The following are some of the activities that telemarketing agencies do: 1) Inbound telemarketing services This is an activity where the callers receive calls on behalf of the client and answer them. Customers of the client would call the company to find out more details of the product or clarify their doubts. The inbound telemarketing agents would receive the calls and handle the customer. The objective would be to provide all the information to convince the client and motivate him to make a purchase. 2) Outbound telemarketing services: Outbound telemarketing done by telemarketing agencies is essentially cold calling. A database or list is used and the callers talk to customers to telephonic ally do a sales pitch on behalf of the client. They would call the prospective customer and provide information on the client; the products and services offered and try to interest the customer in the product. If the customer shows interest, then the caller would try to fix an appointment for a salesperson of the company to meet the customer. The objective of this activity is to generate leads for the client. 3) B2B telemarketing This type of telemarketing services is where a business markets its offerings for another business. Here the agency calls on behalf of a client and offers products and services to another client. In this activity, a list or database of industries, businesses, and companies is used. Callers call the company and speak to the person concerned and provide information about the client’s activities. The objective is to generate leads and fix an appointment for the sales team with the decision maker. 4) B2C telemarketing Here, telecallers call on behalf of a client and talk to consumers to try to convince them to buy the products and services the client offers. Here the contact is made with the end consumers. 5) Running campaigns The telemarketing company would carry out a marketing campaign on phone on behalf of the client. This would involve using a database and contacting everyone on the database to execute a particular marketing strategy. For example, a client may be trying to win back old customers by offering a special discount. The telemarketing agency would call up the customers and inform them of this special offer and try to convince them to take it up. 6) Feedback services A key aspect of telemarketing services is to provide feedback to the client based on the interaction with customers. The telecallers while interacting with customers would have understood their views about the company and would also have heard positive and negative comments This needs to be communicated to the client. A report on the feedback given by customers would help the client identify weak areas and improve the quality of product/services
